In the century since the fall of the Galactic Empire, the Jedi Order has reclaimed much of its lost strength, rivaling its influence during the days of the Old Republic.  But with our rise to power our foes, too, have risen in tenacity.  The dark days of the Empire's rule began not with a hostile takeover of the system, but with a rise of power within that system.  They chose that wolf in sheep's clothing as their savior, and to strike against him would lose us the support of the very public we would be saving.  So we waited.  Stayed our hand until he revealed his.

But by then it was too late to stop his machinations, and so we were plunged into darkness and exile.

Never again, we swore.  And so we have given birth to, or perhaps resuscitated, an order unlike any other, yet so much like us.  Where a Jedi Knight will part a crowd, the Jedi Assassin becomes the crowd.  Where a Jedi Knight hunts the darkness, the Jedi Assassin hunts in the darkness.  The Knight will strike down his foe and let it be known that he has vanquished evil, while the Assassin leaves his fallen prey for the public to mourn, willing to let only himself and his brotherhood know that a great good has been done that day.  They work in secret, choosing death before letting their ties to the Jedi be known, with full understanding of a creed whose meaning has driven men insane.

Nothing is true.
Everything is permitted.
I have a tendency to come up with weird ideas when I play games, and really like to play with the continuity in my head. While playing the Assassin's Creed games, I asked myself what assassins in other franchises would look like. I briefly played with the idea of Link as an assassin, then some kind of Metal Gear assassin to work opposite Snake, as two stealth operatives with very different methods, but the idea that really stuck was Star Wars. It is a universe where fighting with blades is still somewhat common, and I could totally see the Jedi making good use of the Assassins, especially post-Galactic Empire. To top it all off, it's a universe that the traditional Assassin's garb wouldn't look COMPLETELY out of place.

Cue images of Assassins with little lightsaber hidden blades leaping off of the buildings of Coruscant, or running across the rooftops of Mos Eisley. I had to jot the idea down.

Also, let it be known that I know nothing of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, so if the time frame I placed this in just doesn't make sense for one reason or another, I'm sorry. Just...change the date in your head or something.

Someone MUST write a crossover for this. I was at the edge of my seat when I was reading this! I think I might try writing this as a fanfic! I will, of course, give you credit for the idea.
